Volunteer Opportunities: Fall 2008
Volunteering is a major goal of the Student Nurses Association. This year we are focusing on opportunities that promote a healthy community, help us to hone our nursing skills, and increase the visibility and positive image of nursing.

September (all month): Volunteer to help fight Breast Cancer
Volunteer with Susan G. Komen for the Cure during the month of September.

October 4th - Diabetes walk
Where: DCR Hatch Shell, Boston

October 16th - Health Screening at the Dorchester Educational Complex (DEC)
Assist with and explain results of health screening to local high school students.
Volunteers will be taking blood pressure, screening vision, testing blood glucose,
and recording height and weight. Contact Danielle Wood or Emily Radomile.
October/November - Vaccination Clinic with Boston Coalition for Adult Immunization
Thursday October 30th 10am - 4pm. We need volunteers to give flu shots at several Dorchester apartment complexes. Please contact Emily Radomile for more information.
October 22nd - UMASS Health Fair
10am - 2pm. The SNA will have two tables at the event. We need volunteers to help with taking and explaining blood pressure, and explaining the importance and proper technique for handwashing. A great opportunity to practice health promotion and teaching! Contact Emily Radomile for more information.
Nov 1st - Lung Cancer walk
