Volunteer Activities:

This semester we will volunteer at the Dorchester High School Health Fair, at several events planned by the UMASS Health Center, and will take part in immunization clinics. Please contact Emily Radomile if you have any interest in volunteering.

Komen on the Go at UMASS

UMASS Boston Blood Drive

University Health Services sponsored a blood drive on the 14th and SNA members were there to assist with registration and at the canteen. Kenya Trip: In January students from SNA and United for African Growth (UAGO) traveled to Kenya on an outreach mission to provide healthcare and social assistance. Former President Sara Stankiewicz and Vice-President Stephan French were among the volunteers that spent a month in the country. Below is a link to some of the pictures taken on the trip. Welcome Back Potluck: On January 31st, members of the SNA met in the McCormack Cafe to chat, have snacks, and kick off a new semester and new year of SNA activities. Vice President Jean McKinnon gave a warm welcome, and recruited several new members. We look forward to a fun and productive year!

Kenya Trip Slide Show/Recap: On March 24th, Josh Anyaosah presented a touching slide show of the UAGO/SNA outreach mission to Kenya. Volunteers shared personal stories regarding the condition of Kenyan hospitals and what was accomplished during the month-long trip. The mission of UAGO was discussed and future planning efforts for a January 2009 trip are already underway. Members of the SNA will support and play an active role in UAGO efforts. Please contact an SNA officer if you are interested in helping out.

Diabetes EXPO: On March 15th, The 2008 Diabetes Expo was held at the Seaport Trade Center in Boston. For more information about this annual event, please visit the event website.

National Student Nurses Association Convention: March 28th - 30th, the NSNA held its annual convention in Grapevine, TX. If you are not a member of the NSNA yet, please consider joining. Members enjoy many benefits, including receiving Imprint Magazine, scholarship opportunities, guidance on issues effecting the nursing profession, and opportunities for professional growth.
